ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Warplanes from the US-led coalition blasted Islamic State (ISIS) militants on the Gwer front Wednesday night, said a Kurdish official.

"Last night, the US-led coalition warplanes bombed ISIS bases and positions on the Gwer front, causing casualties among the group's militants," a Peshmerga official told Rudaw on condition of anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media.

The source also said that "four ISIS militants were hunted down in airstrikes in the village of Tal Aswad on the Gwer front."

According to Peshmerga officials, there were separate assaults launched by ISIS on Wednesday. No Peshmerga casualties were reported.

Peshmerga forces reportedly defeated two consecutive assaults from ISIS near Mosul, killing several extremists whose bodies were left behind.

"At 8 p.m. sharp, several ISIS militants launched an assault to capture stockades of the Peshmerga at the heights of Aski Mosul on the western Dijla front,” Captain Nawzad Barwari, a Peshmerga offical on the front, told Rudaw by phone.

“The Peshmerga fiercely repulsed the assault, killing several militants," he said.
