Peshmerga thwart ISIS assault on Tigris front
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – A massive, three-pronged attack by ISIS militants has been repulsed by Peshmerga on the Badooshi front, near the eastern Tigris River.
Captain Hashim Ismael, a Peshmerga officer in the Barzan army, told Rudaw the militants used heavy weapons during the attack on Thursday night.
"ISIS has been defeated and our Peshmergas are safe,” he said, adding that coalition warplanes were also in the area.
