Hideout, documents belonging to 'terrorists' fought security forces in Halabja discovered

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – A group of suspected “terrorists” locked up in clashes with a number of Kurdish security personnel at a village near the Kurdish city of Halabja earlier this week were gunned down and wounded and a haven used by the group was later discovered, according to a statement by the Kurdish security establishment. 
 
The Kurdistan Region’s Security Council (KRSC) also said that three security members were slightly wounded in the clashes with the militants. 
 
The security forces "received information through people from the Halabja province that some strange militants were present in the region… On October 19, near Sirwan River and Boin village, some militants were seen and later clashes broke out between security members and the militants.”
 
“A haven used by the group, which contained a lot of ammunition and documents, was later discovered, with some terrorists killed and others wounded,” the statement added. 
 
In the raid, “three Asaish (security) members were wounded," it detailed.
 
Meanwhile, the acting Halabja Governor Ali Othman told Rudaw earlier this week that identities of the gunmen who attacked the Peshmerga on Saturday were still unknown. 
 
But one local official from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) said that the militants were associated with ISIS.
 
In late August, Kurdish security forces shot dead four gunmen identified as ISIS militants in the Azhdagh Mountain in Sangaw in southern Sulaimani.
