ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - An unidentified explosive-laden drone on Tuesday targeted Peshmerga forces in the Amedi district of Duhok province, injuring two personnel, a senior security source told Rudaw, a day after a drone attack injured three other Peshmerga members in the same area.

“The drone fell on a Peshmerga military base, injuring two personnel,” said the source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, adding that the two Peshmerga are in stable condition.

In a similar incident in the same town on Monday, another explosive-laden drone injured two Peshmerga while a third one was experiencing psychological distress.

The area is known for armed conflict between the Turkish army and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

The Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) confirmed both attacks in a statement on Tuesday, blaming a “terrorist group” without naming it.

“Yesterday and this morning, a terrorist group carried out two separate drone attacks targeting Peshmerga force bases on the border of Duhok province, resulting in five Peshmerga being wounded,” read the statement.

“The condition of the wounded is good, and the Peshmerga are ready with iron will to respond to any plot or attack by adversaries,” it added.
