ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Tuesday received Thomas Seiler, the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, discussing a range of topics, including improving collaboration and coordination.
“The meeting focused on the European Union's relationship with the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing the improvement of collaborative efforts and coordination while sharing perspectives on the political and economic landscape in Iraq and the surrounding region,” read a statement from the Kurdistan Region Presidency.
Both sides also “emphasized the crucial role of the EU in fostering stability and enhancing relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, particularly in areas such as development, human rights, and economic and cultural collaboration,” it added.
Seiler thanked the Kurdistan Region for contributing to fostering stability and peaceful coexistence.
Last week, Erbil hosted the Kurdistan National Prayer Breakfast aimed at promoting coexistence, reconciliation, and interfaith understanding, with the participation of hundreds of international leaders and religious figures.
Barzani and Seiler also discussed regional issues, mainly the developments in Syria.
