ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Iraqi government formed a committee of seven to audit the employee lists of the health and education ministries of the KRG. Two of the members are from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

Viyan Hussein, general manager of planning in the health ministry, is a member of the committee. She confirmed the news to Rudaw saying they will start work in the new year.

She said they will audit the employee lists of the two ministries in question, which were prepared by the KRG based on the biometric system.

It is not yet known what demands the Iraqi government will make, she said.

She explained the committee was formed with the KRG’s knowledge.

Yousif Mohammed, head of the planning department at the KRG’s education ministry, is also a member of the committee.

KRG’s health minister said earlier on Friday that he would send his ministry’s payroll list to Baghdad in order to receive salaries from the central government.

In KRG Council of Ministers meeting on Thursday, lawmakers discussed submitting KRG employee lists to Baghdad.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced on Tuesday that Baghdad would begin auditing payroll lists for civil servants in the KRG group-by-group, and they would be paid as they are checked.

Abadi added that the Iraqi government would begin with essential service employees like teachers, health workers, and some necessary security forces.
