Japan delivers $15 million for refugee centers
DUHOK, Kurdistan Region - Japan has sent $15 million to Iraq for projects to shelter refugees who has been displacing around the country since ISIS war in Iraq, Kurdish official of Duhok provincial Council told Rudaw.
“The government of Japan has delivered funds to build up 800 shelters for local displaced families in Baghdad, Karbala and Duhok province,” Esmail Mohammad, deputy governor of Duhok province, said Tuesday. “The shelters will provide all facilities including clean water and electricity.”
According to Mohammad, Duhok province has all ready provided land for the project.
Ali Mayali, a deputy governor of Karbala province, said the refugee projects in his province would generate "1,700 houses.”
In an earlier report, Karbala immigration officials announced at least 12,000 refuge families had arrived in the province to escape the Islamic State.
