Erdogan plays matchmaker between Turkish actor and Moroccan beauty queen
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reportedly took time off from his busy schedule to play matchmaker for a popular Turkish movie star besotted with an Arab beauty queen.
Mr. Erdogan stepped in for Murat Yildirim after his several attempts to win the hand of Miss Arab World Beauty Queen Iman El Bani – a Moroccan – were turned down.
But when Mr. Erdogan asked Ms. El Bani’s father for his daughter’s hand for the popular movie actor, the reluctant dad reportedly agreed.
"These two youngsters would like to get married, so I'm asking for your daughter Iman's hand in marriage for our son Murat," Erdogan was reported to have told the beauty queen and model’s father through FaceTime, a popular video chatting app.
The couple, who met in London where the model lives, are now engaged and set to wed at the end of December, before starting their new life as newlyweds in Los Angeles, according to news reports.
