ERBIL, Kurdistan Region- The self-proclaimed Islamic State, or ISIS, has released a video allegedly showing three Assyrian Christian captives being shot dead in the Syrian city of Hasaka, the Assyrian Human Rights Network (AHRN) said in a statement released Thursday.
The AHRN said those purportedly executed were among 187 Assyrians held as hostages by Islamic State.
Religious minorities such as Christians and Yezidis have been specially targeted by ISIS fighters in Iraq and Syria.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said ISIS has kidnapped dozens of Christians, including 45 women, 19 children and 11 families from the city of Al-Qaryatain in Homs province. The groups said “hundreds of others” were still missing.
