Over 7,000 targets hit in Iran since launch of Operation Epic Fury: CENTCOM

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - US Central Command (CENTCOM) said Monday that more than 7,000 targets in Iran have been struck since the launch of Operation Epic Fury, a large-scale US-Israel military campaign against Tehran that began on February 28.

In a post on X, the Command relayed the operational update of the ongoing offensive, saying that its forces have conducted more than 6,500 combat flights and "damaged or destroyed" over 100 Iranian vessels as part of the ongoing campaign targeting Iran’s security and military structure.

According to CENTCOM, the campaign is aimed at dismantling "the Iranian regime’s security apparatus," focusing on locations considered to pose an “imminent threat.” The strikes have targeted command and control centers, headquarters and intelligence sites of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), ballistic missile and drone manufacturing sites, integrated air defense systems, weapons production facilities and military communications infrastructure.

CENTCOM said a wide range of US military assets have been deployed in the operation, including B-1, B-2 and B-52 bombers, F-22 and F-35 stealth fighters, F-16 and F-15 fighter jets, A-10 attack aircraft and various reconnaissance and electronic warfare planes.

Naval forces, including nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, submarines, and guided-missile destroyers, as well as land-based systems such as Patriot and THAAD missile defenses and HIMARS rocket systems, are also involved, according to CENTCOM.

The United States and Israel on February 28 launched a coordinated military campaign against Iran, amid an ongoing round of nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran.

According to US officials, the strikes have focused on degrading Iran’s military capabilities, particularly its missile and drone programs.

The first day of operations on February 28 saw an airstrike kill Iran’s longtime supreme leader, Ali Khamenei (1939 - 2026), along with several family members and senior commanders.

Since then, Iran has continued to launch missile and drone strikes across the Middle East targeting U.S. military bases and allied facilities - including in Gulf Arab states, Iraq and the Kurdistan Region - and has also carried out retaliatory attacks against Israel.
