IRGC, intelligence, border guard bases heavily bombed in Rojhelat

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - On Monday, the third day of the US-Israel war against the Islamic Republic of Iran, multiple military, security, and judicial facilities of the Iranian government in western Iran (Rojhelat) were bombed.

According to information confirmed by Rudaw, across all five provinces of Rojhelat, bases belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the army, offices and directorates of the Ministry of Intelligence, police headquarters, border guard commands, and several judicial centers were targeted either by airstrikes or missiles.

Urmia province

Early Monday morning in the city of Mahabad, the local intelligence department building was targeted, with a large part of the structure reportedly destroyed. Iranian authorities and security forces have not yet released casualty figures from the strike.

At around 6 am local time, the IRGC’s Vali Asr garrison in Naqadeh was bombed. The base houses the IRGC’s intelligence unit in the city. A resident of Naqadeh told Rudaw that several ambulances transported wounded or dead individuals to hospitals following the attack.

Sanandaj province

The heaviest strikes on Monday in Rojhelat were reported in Kurdistan province.

Targets included the provincial Intelligence Directorate, the IRGC intelligence base, the Justice Department, the office responsible for implementing the Imam’s decrees, and the provincial police command on Shalman Street in Sanandaj city. Police Station No. 15 and the Ban Basha police station on Ferdowsi Street were also hit.

The governor of Sanandaj said several houses near police bases were destroyed due to the strikes and that civilians were among the casualties.

Parts of the warehouses and administrative section of the 28th Army Division garrison, as well as the Armed Forces’ judiciary office located within the compound, were also targeted.

The IRGC’s Imam Ali base in Doshan, near Sanandaj, was struck. The base is considered the main weapons and ammunition depot of the IRGC in the province.

The provincial border guard command, located next to Sanandaj airport, was also targeted and sustained heavy damage, according to videos circulating online.

Sanandaj governor Gharib Sajjadi announced the deaths of 12 people, saying many others were wounded. He stated that “residential areas of civilians were targeted.”

In Marivan, the IRGC command center and the city’s main police headquarters were bombed. The police headquarters is located near the city prison. Social media reports claimed prisoners had escaped following the strike, but Mohammad Jabari, Kurdistan province’s public prosecutor, denied the reports, saying “no one has escaped from the prison.”

Media outlets also reported that an IRGC base in the village of Dezli in Marivan, near the border with the Kurdistan Region, was bombed. Local sources told those outlets that several IRGC members were killed, though no official casualty figures have been released.

Human rights organizations reported that at noon on Monday, an IRGC base in the village of Miredeh and two border guard bases in the Sarshiv area of Saqqez were also bombed.

In Divandarreh, several locations were targeted by missiles, while multiple sites in and around Bijar were also struck.

The head of the Kurdistan province media council said Monday night that so far 24 locations in the province have been targeted, resulting in 45 deaths.

Kermanshah province

On Monday, several Iranian military and security bases in and around Kermanshah city and other towns in the province were targeted by airstrikes and missiles.

An IRGC base at Imam Hussein Square in Kermanshah city was heavily bombed. A video recorded by a nearby resident showed damage to several surrounding homes, though no civilian casualties were reported.

In Javanrud, the main base of the Ansar al-Rasoul Brigade, affiliated with the IRGC Ground Forces, was targeted Monday afternoon. Reports also circulated that the local intelligence building and the Iranian Red Crescent were struck, but these claims have not been confirmed.

Ilam province

Monday afternoon, several locations in the center of Saravleh city in Ilam province were bombed by aircraft.

The police command and intelligence base in Saravleh were reportedly targeted.

Provincial media, citing local officials, reported significant damage from the attack and confirmed the deaths of five people so far.

Lorestan province

On Monday afternoon, the Baba Abbas garrison, affiliated with the Army Ground Forces, in Khorramabad was bombed. The base is used to store weapons and ammunition for the 84th Division in Lorestan province. The facility was also struck several times the previous night.

The public relations office of the 84th Division command in Lorestan announced that five of its forces were killed in the attack.
