Bombing of Iranian military, police, border guard, intellegence bases continues in western Iran
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Multiple security and military installations belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran came under intense bombardment on the fourth day of a joint US–Israel aerial campaign against the country. Residential areas and anda hospital were also affected by the strikes.
According to information obtained by Rudaw, in four Kurdish provinces of western Kurdistan (Rojhelat), bases of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Iranian Army (Artesh), offices and directorates of the Ministry of Intelligence, as well as police stations, border guard units, and a health center were targeted by aircraft and missile strikes.
Urmia province
Early Tuesday morning, the city of Urmia was struck, with three powerful explosions heard across the city.
A source in Urmia told Rudaw that one explosion occurred inside the city, while two others were heard outside on the Daryada road, where the Al-Mahdi base of the IRGC is located.
Iranian state media reported that at approximately 2:00 am, a residential building on Baqer al-Olum Street in the Qasemiyeh district of Urmia was hit, resulting in the death of a municipal employee.
No official information has been released regarding the other two explosions or the extent of the damage.
The same source told Rudaw that during Sunday’s bombing of the provincial border guard base in the Bandi area near Urmia, at least 16 soldiers were killed, most of whom were from nearby towns.
Also early Tuesday morning, in the city of Mahabad, the police headquarters building in the Shilan neighborhood was bombed. The facility was reportedly completely destroyed, though the number of casualties remains unknown.
A source in Mahabad said a missile strike also targeted the “Mohammad Rasulallah Basij Base” near Mahabad Mall, resulting in its total destruction.
The source added that a large number of security forces have been deployed to the area, monitoring the site and preventing civilians from approaching. On Monday, the city’s intelligence building was also struck, sustaining significant structural damage.
In the city of Naqadeh, six IRGC members were killed in an attack on a base.
Tasnim News Agency, which is affiliated with the IRGC, reported that the “Vali-e Asr” base in central Naqadeh was attacked on Monday, killing six guards.
Sanandaj province
On Tuesday morning, the city of Marivan in Sanandaj Province was heavily bombed.
According to reports, the targets inside Marivan included the Police Investigation Center (Agahi), the Police Command headquarters, the Border Guard Command, the Intelligence Department building, the 328th Brigade headquarters of the Iranian Army (Artesh), Police Station No. 11 near the city prison, and several other military facilities.
Kermanshah province
In Kermanshah province, the main hospital in the city of Sarpol-e Zahab was struck and suffered extensive damage.
The Public Relations Office of the Kermanshah Governorate issued a statement confirming that Shohada Hospital in Sarpol-e Zahab had been targeted by missiles.
According to the governorate, the hospital sustained heavy structural damage, with several sections destroyed.
Lorestan Province
The Public Relations Office of the 84th Division Command of Lorestan, affiliated with the Iranian army, announced that three of its members were killed following the bombing of one of its bases in Khorramabad.
On Monday afternoon, the “Baba Abbas” military base, used by the army’s infantry forces in Khorramabad, was struck. The facility is used for storing weapons and ammunition belonging to the 84th Division in Lorestan Province.
On Sunday night, the headquarters of the 84th Division of Lorestan had also been bombed. In that attack, five members of the Iranian army were killed.
