Tehran, 174 Iranian cities hit as war toll rises to over 1,000

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The US and Israel intensified their air campaign against Iran Wednesday, striking military and security targets nationwide, with Tehran and its surrounding areas hit hardest. The Iranian authorities have reported significant casualties as the conflict escalated.

Mojtaba Khalidi, spokesperson for the Iranian Red Crescent Society, announced that the US and Israel have attacked 174 Iranian cities using missiles, drones, and fighter jets.

The Iranian Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs confirmed that 1,046 people have been buried so far following the attacks. This figure only accounts for those already buried. The number of killed and wounded is expected to be much higher, particularly among military and security forces.

Hossein Karmanpour, head of the Public Relations Center of the Iranian Ministry of Health, stated that 6,186 people have been injured, and 926 of them have since died.

On Wednesday night, another wave of bombings targeted Iran’s security and military facilities.

In Iranian Rojhelat, the Kurdish areas of western Iran, security and military bases in Khorramabad, Marivan, Bukan, and Saqqez were attacked Wednesday night.

According to released information, several targets in Tehran, Bandar Abbas, Tabriz, and Yazd were bombed on Wednesday night. With air defense systems in the Iranian capital being activated again and aircraft circling the city's airspace.

Iranian media reported that several locations in northern and southwestern Tehran were struck, with powerful explosions heard from the targeted sites.

Additional targets were hit within Tehran on Wednesday, specifically in the town of Boroujerdi, the Afsariyeh neighborhood, and the eastern heights of the city.

Near the Tehranpars neighborhood in eastern Tehran, an industrial facility was reportedly hit. Social media reports suggested the facility was a missile manufacturing factory.

Additionally, a large police headquarters on Kargar Street near Enqelab Square was bombed and is said to be completely destroyed, though this has not been officially confirmed.

The Israeli military announced that it bombed several military targets at Mehrabad Airport and the Parchin military complex in eastern Tehran. The Israeli army stated that the targeted locations served as headquarters for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Quds Force, and the Basij.

Beyond Tehran, at least two sites in Shiraz, an IRGC base in Hamadan province's Tuyserkan and a helicopter manufacturing company in Karaj’s Kamalshahr industrial zone were bombed on Wednesday. Powerful explosions also occurred in Garmdarreh, located between Tehran and Karaj. In Behbahan, Khuzestan province, the main IRGC military base was also targeted.

Furthermore, in Chabahar, Sistan and Baluchestan province, a large IRGC ammunition warehouse behind a city’s remote area was bombed Wednesday morning.
