ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Israeli and US forces carried out strikes on Iranian military and missile bases across several cities on Thursday, as the war between Iran and the US-Israel coalition entered its thirteenth day.
On Thursday, dozens of Iranian military facilities in Tehran and other cities were targeted as the conflict escalated.
In predominantly Kurdish western Iran (Rojhelat), an IRGC base in Kangavar city in Kermanshah province was bombed. The same base had also been targeted on Wednesday afternoon.
Tehran and surrounding areas
Late Thursday night, multiple targets inside Tehran were struck by drones in the neighborhoods of Moniriyeh, Haqani, Bisim, Shahrak-e Rah Ahan, Afsariyeh, Yaft Abad, and Baharan. Authorities have confirmed that the site targeted in the Bisim neighborhood on Khavaran Street was a police base.
Other strikes targeted an IRGC base in the Andisheh neighborhood of Karaj city, a military site outside Islamshahr in Tehran province, and a checkpoint on the Tehran-Qom road.
Military targets were also struck Thursday night again in Karaj in the neighborhoods of Vahdat Town, Meysami, and Anaraki, as well as in the city of Garmdareh between Tehran and Karaj.
IRGC-affiliated media said explosions were heard in the east, west, and center of Tehran, and that Iran’s air defense systems were activated.
The Israeli military said Thursday night that it had launched a widespread wave of attacks against facilities belonging to the Iranian state throughout Tehran. It said some of the targets were checkpoints set up by IRGC Basij forces. Several checkpoints in Tehran had already been struck on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
According to reports, some checkpoints were removed or relocated following the attacks.
The Israeli army also said it targeted several bases belonging to the Iranian Army Air Force and destroyed more than 250 drones, along with dozens of missile bases and missile launch sites.
Additional targets struck included sites in the industrial town of Parand, about 40 kilometers southwest of Tehran, the police command headquarters in Robat Karim in Tehran province, the IRGC command in Varamin city, and a target in the Nazarabad industrial town in Karaj.
Attacks in other cities
In Kermanshah province in Rojhelat, a military base near Kangavar was targeted by aircraft on Thursday. The same base had also been bombed on Wednesday afternoon.
Explosions were reported Thursday night in Ahvaz, the capital of Khuzestan province. According to reports, the blasts originated from inside military bases in the city.
In Khomeyn city in Markazi province, a missile base was bombed. Near Arak city, a factory believed to have been a drone production site was also struck.
IRGC media reported that during an earlier attack on Arak this week, senior IRGC Air Force commander Ismail Dehghan was killed.
Residents in Arak later reported hearing a powerful explosion in the city center Thursday night, though authorities have not confirmed the location of the strike.
In Qom city, several sites in the Shokohieh area were bombed. Qom Governor Akbar Behnamjou said three locations were struck.
Outside Yazd city, two missiles hit a military base Thursday morning. In Shiraz in Fars province, an aircraft struck two targets, including an Iranian Army Air Force base and a location inside the city’s airport.
The IRGC said its forces in Larestan city in Fars province shot down a drone before it reached its intended targets.
From Thursday morning until noon, Iranian Army Air Force bases in Dezful and Andimeshk in Khuzestan province were bombed several times.
In the provincial capital Ahvaz, the IRGC Karbala headquarters, a Basij base, and the residential compound of army officers’ families were also targeted.
Iranian state media said that around noon, a residential area on the west bank of the Karun River was struck, leaving several people killed and wounded.
Thursday evening, IRGC bases in Bushehr province in southern Iran were also bombed.
On Kish Island in southern Iran, several separate military targets were bombed throughout Thursday, including Kish airport, which has been repeatedly targeted during the conflict.
On Qeshm Island, an IRGC air defense system and a target inside the port were bombed. Qeshm’s police commander said a drone struck a tourist site on the island, killing a man and a woman and wounding another woman.
