ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani is scheduled to travel to Iran to participate in the Tehran Dialogue Forum, which is taking place on Sunday and Monday.

“Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government President Nechirvan Barzani, and former Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi will travel to Tehran,” Mohammad Kazem al-Sadeq, ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Baghdad, told Iranian state-owned ISNA news agency on Friday.

“The purpose of this trip is to participate in the Tehran Dialogue Forum, which is being organized by the Center for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country,” he added.

Delegations from 53 countries will attend the forum that is a platform for international dialogue.

Barzani last traveled to Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Masoud Pezeshkian as president on July 30, 2024.

Earlier that year, in early May, he also visited Tehran and held meetings with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, then-President Ebrahim Raisi, and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.

On May 22, 2024, Nechirvan Barzani, along with Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, returned to Tehran to attend Raisi’s funeral.
