An alleged ISIS leader was captured in Rojhelat, also known as Iranian Kurdistan, and accused of planning to carry out an attack, an Iranian official has said.
“Iranian security guards captured an ISIS leader in Urmia and prevented an attack being arranged by him,” Qurban Ali Saadat, governor of Urmia said in a prayer ceremony on Saturday.
Saadat added that a number of ISIS-affiliated militants accompanying the leader were also arrested.
“The plot that the leader with his militants had planned was foiled,” Saadat said, without detailing the identities of any of the militants or facts about their arrest.
