Iran claims it killed and wounded 7 ‘terrorists’ on KRG border
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps have claimed they killed three “terrorists,” wounded four more and arrested one on the country’s northwestern border with the Kurdistan Region in clashes that resulted in one fatality among its ranks on Thursday night.
The IRGC said that the “terrorist” group with links to foreign intelligence agencies, a term Iran uses for parties opposed to Iran, was trying to launch terrorist acts, but that their security forces were able to foil them.
It added that those wounded crossed back across the border area.
No group opposed to Iran commented on the clashes. Often it is Kurdish armed parties who are active in the area mentioned by Iranian security forces.
The extremist ISIS group recently has also staged two coordinated attacks in the capital Tehran.
ISIS claimed the Tehran attacks carried out by five gunmen — all Iranian citizens — including some of Kurdish origin. They killed 18 and injured more than 50 people on June 7.
In June, the IRGC killed three Peshmerga fighters of the Komala party, and arrested a fourth, as he was wounded in the clashes.

Days after the June clashes, Iranian artillery shelled the borders of the Kurdistan Region that lies next to the country’s northwestern border, wounding one Kurdish civilian and two Komala Peshmerga fighters.
An Iranian official accused the Kurdish government in Erbil of violating the shared security arrangements between the two sides regarding the border security.
Erbil condemned the shelling and summoned the Iranian Consul in Erbil to convey their protests.
Kurdish armed groups are stationed inside the Kurdistan Region on the border with Iran.
