US, Israel resume strikes in Rojhelat, target multiple locations
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - US and Israeli forces resumed attacks on Iranian military and security facilities in Rojhelat, the Kurdish areas of western Iran, on Monday after a pause of more than a week, striking several locations in West Azerbaijan and Lorestan provinces.
Monday marks the 24th day since the start of the US-Israel military campaign against Iran, with the latest wave of strikes carried out from Sunday night to Monday afternoon.
Rojhelat
US and Israeli forces bombarded one site in Khorramabad, the capital of Lorestan province, and two locations on its outskirts on Monday morning, with US sources identifying one of the targets as a missile base.
Regarding the target inside the city, Lorestan officials stated that a building in a residential neighborhood was struck, causing damage to several surrounding houses. The attack resulted in casualties; the governor of Lorestan announced that as of Monday afternoon, nine people had died and more than 40 others were wounded as a result of the strike.
Additionally, a building was targeted in the city of Urmia, West Azerbaijan province, on Monday morning. Following the attack, electricity was cut off in several neighborhoods of the city. However, the director of electricity for Urmia stated that the power outage issues were resolved by Monday before noon.
Tehran and other provinces
Dozens of sites were also struck across Tehran, Isfahan, Alborz, Kerman, West Azerbaijan, Fars, Hormozgan, Bushehr, and Khuzestan on Monday.
The bulk of the attacks were concentrated in Tehran and its outskirts. Since Sunday night, strikes have targeted multiple areas across north, southeast, west, and central Tehran, including the neighborhoods of Niavaran, Andarzgu, Farmanieh, Nobonyad, Chizar, Yousef Abad, and Tehranpars, the streets of Mokran, Pirouzi, Heravi, South Kargar, and Pasteur, as well as the areas around Azadi, Namaz, and Enqelab squares.
One of the sites hit in Tehran was an electronic industry facility linked to the Iranian ministry of defense, and Iranian media reported that a school in southeastern Tehran was also struck in Monday’s attacks.
In addition to the city center, several locations were targeted on the road from Tehran to Damavand, as well as in the Kheirabad area of Varamin.
A spokesperson for the Tehran Municipality announced on Monday that 468 locations in the Iranian capital have been targeted since the start of the war. He added, "24,000 residential units have been damaged."
On Monday morning, an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Air Force base in the southern city of Bushehr was struck again. The headquarters of the Bushehr provincial meteorology department was also targeted.
Several locations were also bombed within the city of Tabriz, East Azerbaijan province. One of the targets was a residential building in the Shahrak-e Nasr neighborhood. Additionally, a target inside a city park in Tabriz was hit. Iranian media reported that six people lost their lives as a result of the two attacks.
At approximately 1 am Monday (Iran time), three locations in and around the city of Isfahan province were bombarded. A military base was also attacked outside the city of Shahin Shahr in the province.
Late Sunday night, two locations were targeted in the city of Shiraz in Fars province. Furthermore, near the city of Talish in Gilan province, on the coast of the Caspian Sea, an IRGC base and a military airport were bombarded.
Several targets in southern Iran’s Hormozgan and Bushehr provinces were struck throughout Sunday and Sunday night. Residents of Bushehr reported that five locations in the city were hit between 10 and 10:30 pm.
In Hormozgan province, several locations in the cities of Bandar Abbas and Bandar Lengeh were attacked from Sunday evening until Monday morning. In Bandar Abbas, a missile launch site was stuck.
The governor of Bandar Lengeh told the media that a civil defense vehicle was targeted on the outskirts of the city, injuring one employee. He noted that the vehicle was en route to extinguish a fire caused by an earlier bombardment.
Attacks continue on a missile base in the heights behind Kuhestan Park on the outskirts of Yazd province. In the past 24 hours, the location was hit by airstrikes four times and has been targeted continuously since the early days of the conflict.
Objectives of the attacks
The Iranian government and officials do not officially release names and details regarding the locations struck by the US and Israel. However, according to information released so far by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) and the Israeli military, the targets include: senior political officials, military and security commanders, missile bases, missile and drone production sites, air defense systems, IRGC and Army (Artesh) barracks, some government institutions, police and border guard stations, and Basij and police checkpoints.
However, Iranian officials claim that in addition to military targets, the US and Israel are attacking civilian residential areas and non-military sites.
Pir-Hossein Koulivand, head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, told the Iranian media on Sunday, "So far, 81,000 non-military locations, such as health centers, schools, and ambulances, have been targeted."
Since the start of the war, internet access in Iran and Rojhelat has been heavily restricted, leaving only a small number of people online. Some of those with access have been reporting the timing and locations of US and Israeli strikes or sharing the information with media outlets.
Press TV, the official English-language channel of the Iranian government, quoted a security source claiming that US and Israeli airstrikes in central Iran have decreased after they managed to damage a US F-35 aircraft.
The war after Trump’s remarks
US and Israeli attacks on Iran continue, even as US President Donald Trump announced on Monday, “We have had very, very strong talks. We'll see where they lead. We have major points of agreement.” For this reason, he ordered the US military to postpone attacks on Iran's power stations and energy infrastructure for five days.
Early Sunday morning, Trump gave Iran a 48-hour deadline, stating that if Tehran does not open the Strait of Hormuz within that period, they would attack the country's power plants.
However, the Mehr and Fars news agencies of the Islamic Republic denied that any negotiations were taking place between Tehran and Washington, stating that his remarks are intended to buy time to implement military plans.
Additionally, after Israel's Channel 12 and the American website Axios quoted a senior Israeli official saying that Washington is negotiating with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Ghalibaf posted on X: "No negotiations have been held with the US, and fake news is used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are trapped." He also wrote, "Iranian people demand complete and remorseful punishment of the aggressors."
In a press conference today, Trump said they are negotiating with "an Iranian top respected leader," and that person is not the Leader of the Islamic Republic, Mojtaba Khamenei. However, he didn't mention the name of the Iranian official saying, "I don't want him to get killed."
On the other hand, the Israeli military announced on Monday afternoon, immediately following Trump's remaks, that they are beginning another wave of attacks on Iran.
