Death toll in Iran quake rises to 456
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The death toll for the powerful earthquake that hit on the Kurdistan Region-Iran border has risen to 456 following the deaths of 11 people in hospital, Iran’s forensic office stated on Saturday.
It said the most recent victims had died over the past few days in hospitals in Kermanshah province.
The majority of the deaths with 400 have been in the Kurdish town of Sarpol-e Zahab. One person from the town is still missing.
The 7.3 magnitude earthquake on November 12 injured over 7,800 people in Iran. A total of 427,266 people are affected by the quake, according to the Iranian Red Crescent.
