Three Kurdish candidates win Tehran votes for parliament

Three Kurdish candidates in Iran have managed to win enough votes in Friday’s elections to get into the country’s 10th parliament (Majlis).

The three who hail from different parts of Iran won their votes in the capital Tehran.

They ran on the list of I’tidal, a moderate group.

Farideh Avlad Qubad hails from Lorestan, Bahroz Nimati from Asadabad near Hamadan, and Parvaneh Mafi.

The three were on a list of thirty candidates put together by Tehran’s Kurdish community to run in the elections under the List of Kurdish Coalition in Tehran.

Friday’s elections marked a landslide victory for Iran’s reformists led by President Hassan Rouhani and former president Hashemi Rafsanjani, particularly in the capital Tehran.
