Official: ISIS convoy destroyed on way to Baghdad

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Iraqi warplanes conducted airstrikes Monday night on a convoy of armored ISIS vehicles on the way from Fallujah to Baghdad, an Iraqi military official announced.

Saad Maan, spokesman for Iraqi forces, told local media Tuesday that the Iraqi air force was able to neutralize the explosive-laden vehicles before they could be used in suicide attacks in the capital.

According to the source, ISIS was expected attack Baghdad using its usual tactic of waves of suicide car bombs.

The number of ISIS causalities was not mentioned, but Maan said ISIS suffered a heavy defeat.
