Twin ISIS assaults defeated by Peshmerga

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Peshmerga forces reportedly defeated two consecutive assaults from the Islamic State (ISIS) near Mosul on Wednesday, killing several extremists whose bodies were left behind.

"At 8 pm sharp, several ISIS militants launched an assault to capture stockades of the Peshmerga at the heights of Aski Mosul on the western Dijla front,” Captain Nawzad Barwari, a Peshmerga offical on the front, told Rudaw by phone.

“The Peshmerga fiercely repulsed the assault, killing several militants," he said.

After the first assault was defeated,  the militants re-launched a fresh attack to get back the dead bodies behind, but "the Peshmerga defeated them again, killing some other militants," Barwari claimed.

According to information received by Rudaw, US-led coalition warplanes have bombed ISIS positions on the western Dijla and Khazir fronts, reportedly destroying facilities.
