PMF leader Amiri: ‘the US cannot protect Iraq’


ERBIL, Kurdistani Region – Iraqi joint forces have freed an area covering some 8,000 km in Salahadin province from the Islamic State, the head of the Shiite militia movement known as Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) has said.
 
“We began our campaign to liberate Salahadin province from ISIS on March 2 on two fronts, including the eastern and western Tigris River fronts. All the districts and sub-districts located on the eastern front have been cleared from ISIS, and there are some places left on the western Tigris front,” said Hadi al-Amiri, leader of the PMF and the Shiite group known as the Badr Brigade..
 
“We will re-lunch our assaults on ISIS soon,” Amiri added. “The USA cannot do anything to protect Iraq, and those who rely on coalition airstrike are believing in a mirage.”
 
Iraqi joint forces suspended a campaigns to clear ISIS from Salahadin province five days ago in order to clear the area of landmines and defuse bombs ISIS has planted to stop the advance.
