Gov’t claims 32 ISIS militants killed by Iraqi forces

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Thirty-two Islamic State militants were killed Thursday in actions by Iraqi security forces, Brigadier General Saad Maan, an Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman, announced at a press conference the same day.

According to Maan, the Iraqi police gunned down two separate groups of ISIS militants and captured others in two operations near Baiji north of Tikrit and north of Baghdad.

“Iraqi police forces with the help of intelligence officers on the ground managed to defuse and dismantle ISIS vehicles rigged with explosives,” Maan added.

On Wednesday, US-led coalition airstrikes bombed three ISIS military vehicles equipped with heavy artillery north of Baiji.
