Ready-made Garment Factory in Mosul produces 20,000 disposable face masks every day.
It is run by the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals, and it is one of the biggest factories in Iraq. It was built by the government in 1983.
The factory employs more than 300 people to run 600 machines.
Before ISIS took control of Mosul in 2014, the factory had been producing disposable clothing for medical workers and 40,000 masks per day.
The factory produced disposable clothes for medical workers until the outbreak of the coronavirus, but since February 2020, the factory has only produced face masks.
The masks are produced at a cost of 80 Iraqi Dinars ($0.06) each, and retail for 750 Iraqi Dinars ($0.63).
