Will spoof 'Love and Loyalty' election posters win back man's girlfriend?
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – A young man in Baghdad has spent a million Iraqi dinars on election-style posters pleading with his girlfriend not to break up with him. He is hanging the spoof campaign materials around the Iraqi capital alongside those of parliamentary candidates.
The pretend election posters appear to campaign for a fictitious list called “Love and Loyalty.” The lovesick ‘candidate’ describes himself as number two in the list. Presumably his ex is number one.
The hashtag ‘#YouAreMyHomeland’ also appears on the posters.

The unusual gesture has gone viral on social media. Some users are impressed by his commitment and have wished the young man luck winning back his girl. Others found it a welcome relief from electioneering.
“The politicians’ posters cannot compete [with] that of a lovesick's posters,” said one Facebook user.
“A love story among the battle of the politicians,” wrote another.
“The anger of his darling cost him one million dinars,” wrote one user, referring to the price of printing his posters.
Due to Shiite-Sunni rivalries, Baghdad has witnesses some of the hottest campaigning of the election. Of 329 seats, 69 seats have been dedicated to the country’s largest and most populated city.
