ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Two people were injured after an explosives-laden motorcycle blew up outside the office of the ruling Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Shaddadi, northeast Syria (Rojava) on Monday, the PYD has said.
“As a result of the explosion, two people were injured and it also caused material loss to public property and the nearby buildings,” the party said in a statement published to its website.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) also reported the incident. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The PYD later released another statement, condemning the attack as part of ongoing terrorist acts.
Shaddadi is located in the south of Hasaka province.
The town is known to have an Islamic State (ISIS) presence. Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have previously carried out military operations against the group in the area.
