DAMASCUS - The Syria Specialized Exhibition Series 2025 opened on Wednesday and runs through Sunday.

The exhibition is taking place as the new government in Damascus is working to rebuild the war-torn country.

Muhammad Nidal al-Shaar, Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry, told Rudaw on the sidelines of the event that he expects international sanctions on his country will be lifted soon.

"All doors have been opened for the companies to invest in Syria, regardless of size. But regarding the sanctions issue, I believe it is complex, and, God willing, it will be resolved in the near future," he said.

Around 500 domestic and international companies are taking part. This includes 180 Turkish, 22 Chinese, and 15 Italian companies.

Most of the companies are from the energy, industry, and construction sectors, which is where Syria's greatest needs are.

Burhan Koroglu, Turkey's Damascus Chargé d'Affaires, also attended the exhibition.

He told Rudaw that Ankara wants to "assist in the proper reconstruction of Syria, with all its aspects and territories."

He added, "We know that Syria's stability is tied to Turkey's stability, both are on the same path. We wish them success. Of course, economic activity is important because it will lead to the strongest reconstruction."
