11 killed in ISIS suicide bombings near Manbij
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region—Eleven civilians were killed and six wounded in two Islamic State (ISIS) suicide attacks in villages in the Manbij countryside in northern Syria on Tuesday.
A suicide bomber targeted civilians in the village of al-Mashi, the Manbij Military Council reported, saying that ISIS does not care if they attack military positions or civilians, “they just want to kill.”
A second bombing occurred in the village of al-Dandanah.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that 20 were wounded in the attack in al-Mashi.
The Manbij Military Council listed among the dead Abdulkarim al-Hassan al-Mashi; Issa al-Mashi and his daughter Asia Issa al-Hassan al-Mashi, Ahmed al-Mashi, Star al-Hassan al-Mashi, Mohammed Star, and Abud al-Hilal.
The wounded were taken to hospitals in Kobane and Qamishli.
Manbij was liberated from ISIS control by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in mid-August. It is now under the control of the Manbij Military Council, a local council that is defending and administering the town.
ISIS has launched repeated attacks against SDF and Manbij Military Council forces in the Manbij area, according to the Observatory.
