ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - A joint checkpoint manned by the Kurdish-led Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and the Syrian General Security Forces at the al-Shihan roundabout in Aleppo was attacked by armed factions "affiliated with the Syrian interim defense ministry," the Asayish said in a statement.
The Asayish said two of its members were injured in the attack. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) - Rojava’s de facto army - said that the interim authorities in Damascus are “fully responsible for the attacks.”
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that, according to “local sources,” Asayish forces “responded immediately to the attack, prompting a security alert in the surrounding area.”
The state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) alleged that the SDF targeted the Internal Security Forces and that a road was closed due to the attack.
