VIDEO: ISIS-held hospital blown up in Kobani

KOBANI, Syria — The hospital in Kobani where ISIS attackers and snipers had been holed up since Thursday was blown up with the source of the explosion still unknown, Rudaw's Omar Kalo reported from the scene.

This footage taken by Rudaw shows the destruction of Mishta Nur Hospital on Saturday in the southern part of the city. It was reported that eight ISIS fighters were inside the hospital. It remains unclear which side in the battle detonated the blast, according to Kalo.

Kalo added that fighting was continuing in Kobani on Saturday between ISIS militants and the Kurdish YPG, or People's Protection Units.

YPG fighters told Rudaw they didn’t destroy the hospital, claiming the ISIS militants detonated the hospital.

The hospital, which was operated in cooperation with Doctors Without Borders, was taken over by ISIS infiltrators on 4am on Thursday. ISIS snipers took positions in the upper reaches of the facility and had controlled the building throughout the brutal attack on civilians.

Based on the latest figures obtained by Rudaw, at least 201 civilians were killed in the attack and more than 200 were wounded. It has been reported that 60 ISIS fighters were killed in the fighting and nine have been captured.
