The stories of a few of the people killed in the Qamishli massacre

Five-year old Dylan lived her whole life in conflict and danger. She was the same age as Syria’s civil war. When her family tried to flee and find safety in Europe, her two siblings drowned in the Aegean Sea. Her father, Emad Hamdy, was able to save his young daughter. Unable to reach the safety of Europe, together they returned to Qamishli and to war where, yesterday, Dylan was killed in the twin bombing.

Ibrahim was full of hope for his future. He was in Qamishli to give out invitations to his wedding on Friday. Now his family and friends will attend his funeral instead.

Berivan Saeed, grew up an orphan; her husband was also killed. She and her son were killed on Wednesday, leaving her little daughter, Sewi, alone, an orphan just as her mother had been.

These are just a few of the lives torn apart by the double bombing in Qamishli on Wednesday.
