Turkey demolishes historic military base amid peace talks with PKK

Turkey has begun demolishing the Gendarmerie military base in Hakkari, a site historically significant to the conflict between the Turkish state and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). This move, coinciding with renewed peace talks between the two sides, has sparked hope among locals for healing and new opportunities.
