Turkish soldiers killed in Saturday Diyarbakir car bombing

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey — Two Turkish soldiers were killed and four injured when a car bomb hit their convoy in Lice near Diyarbakir Saturday night.
 
The military convoy headed to Diyarbakir-Bingol crossroad to clear a reported traffic block when an explosive-loaded vehicle hit their convoy. The injured soldiers were transferred to Diyarbakir Hospital, reported the Anadolu news agency.
 
According to a statement made by the Diyarbakir governorship, the explosion took place at 11 pm.
 
A police station in Baglar in Diyarbakir was also targeted by long-range guns. The city police department said that the security forces responded to the hostile fire and the perpetrators fled. No injuries were reported in that incident and Turkish forces launched an operation to pursue the shooters.
