Art exhibition on Mesopotamian culture held in Washington
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Twelve artists from Iraq and the Kurdistan Region participated in an exhibition on Mesopotamian culture held in Washington last week, showcasing their paintings and traditional clothing.
“I feel proud that I am representing my country, my history, my civilization, and to tell the world that I am from Mesopotamia,” Rand Talal, an artist, told Rudaw’s Diyar Kurda on Tuesday.
The exhibition was held at the Iraqi Embassy in the US capital and a delegation from the Kurdistan Region participated in the exhibition.
“I love art and especially modern art, yet it reflects our heritage in Iraq no matter where you are, Shamim Rasam, the organizer of the event, said.
“I am very happy to see such beautiful artwork from Iraq and from the Kurdistan Region all together, showing the breadth of the incredible accomplishment of the Iraqi artists,” Paul Stephen, former US consulate to Erbil, added.
All of the artists are well-accomplished and they showcase their Mesopotamian roots through modern art.
