Yezidi survivor’s wedding day made possible by slew of donations

A Yezidi survivor of the ISIS genocide had her dream wedding day thanks to the generous donations of her community, Muslim neighbors, and even complete strangers.

Farida Abbas Khalaf, an activist and author of ‘The Girl Who Beat ISIS’, lost her family when the jihadist group swept through northern Iraq in the summer of 2014, killing and taking prisoner thousands of Yezidi people.

In memory of her loss, Khalaf tattooed the name of her village on her hand.

Her massive wedding party was made possible thanks to generous donations raised by friends.
