US energy boom means plunging pump prices
ORLANDO, Florida - An abundance of cheap US oil and natural gas has resulted in a plunge in prices at the pump for American motorists.
Technologies like hydraulic fracturing have prompted a surge in US production, and a 40 percent decline in energy imports from OPEC nations such as Iraq.
But the US turn towards homegrown energy sources has prompted fierce competition between new and traditional forms of fuel.
