WASHINGTON, DC - Fifty Kurdish and Iraqi investors are participating in an investment summit in the United States to encourage business cooperation and support economic development in the Kurdistan Region.
The SelectUSA Investment Summit, a government-led event, connects international investors with American companies and development organizations to support the creation of jobs and business expansion.
Kurdish investors in the summit say they are participating to explore investment opportunities in the US and leverage international expertise to support the Kurdistan Region’s economic development.
“This summit is a valuable opportunity to foster a stronger connection between American and international investors. Our company saw real benefit in participating – at the very least, we get fresh ideas to better serve our country,” Gailan Muhammed, a Kurdish investor at the summit, told Rudaw. “We are engaging with various companies and exchanging insights.”
The 11th edition of the summit, which is hosted annually in Maryland’s National Harbor, is bringing thousands of investors, companies, and industry experts.
California, one of the wealthiest US states, is represented at the summit through its own dedicated booth.
“We have several global business opportunities and a very diverse community. People from all countries, including the Middle East, live in California, so we have the best skilled workers, ranking first in R&D [Research and Development] in America,” said Kani Stoffer, Director of the Economic Alliance in California.
