ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Ramin Hossein Panahi was executed by Iran early Saturday morning, his brother confirmed.

There are reports that two other Kurdish prisoners on death row, Loghman Moradi and Zanyar Moradi, have also been executed.

Panahi was hanged at 5:00 Saturday morning in Iran’s Rajaee Shahr Prison west of Tehran, his brother Amjad Hossein Panahi confirmed to Rudaw English.

“And we have not received back his body yet,” he said.

A member of the Kurdish party Komala, Panahi was arrested in June 2017 during a confrontation with security forces. Iranian authorities allege he was armed at the time.

Panahi denied the charge.

Membership in opposition parties like Komala does not carry the death sentence.

Human rights organization Hengaw reported that Loghman Moradi and Zanyar Moradi were also executed in Mariwan.

The two are cousins and were arrested by Iranian police in 2009 and charged with the 1988 assassination of the son of the preacher of Mariwan.

Their mothers recently issued pleas for their release.

UN rights experts called on Tehran to halt their execution in a statement on Friday and reiterated an earlier appeal on Panahi’s behalf.

“We urge the Government of Iran to immediately halt their executions and to annul the death sentences against them in compliance with its international obligations,” stated Agnes Callamard, Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions and Javaid Rehman, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

They expressed concern that the cousins were tortured while in custody and did not receive a fair trial.

A prison officer told Panahi a few days earlier that his death would be used as an intimidation tactic.

He was executed a few hours before Iranian forces began shelling the headquarters of Kurdish-Iranian parties in the Kurdistan Region.

PDKI’s headquarters were shelled while the group was having a leadership meeting.

Meanwhile European countries are busy trying to trade with Iran and finance the killing of even more people all over the middle east. The blood of this Martyr is not just on the disgusting hands of the Ayatollahs and all the sectarian and evil shias who support him, but also on the hands of the european hypocrits who who claim to believe in peace and democracy while trading with the most satanic regimes the world has ever seen. They critisize Turkey because they arrest people after a coup but turn a blind eye to Iran when they kill tens of thousands of people each year all over the middle east. This is european hypocracy for you. They don't give a shit about freedom for anyone else but for themselves. When they critisize a country for human rights violations these are simply pretexts, otherwise they would critisize their own allies like Iran and Israel. European countries don't give a shit about human rights. Selfish bunch of hypocrits who support terrorism all over the world when it suits them.

Never in history have we witnessed a more evil regime in the middle east than Iran. Not only is Iran the only countrywhere kurds are still openly executed for demanding equal rights, but their evil goes way beyond this. All over the middle east Iran is killing sunnis. Millions of sunnis have been killed by Iran since 2003 alone. In Iraq they have interfered from day one and exploited democracy to persecute sunnis. Hundreds of thousands of innocent sunnis have been killed and entire sunni regions destroyed to rubble. Now Iran is trying to destroy Kirkuk and the kurdish region. Not even Saddam treated shia this way. In Syria they have done even worse and supported a genocide against sunnis with prisons that have ovens so bodies of executed prisoners can be disposed quickly. In Yemen they started a war that has killed tens of thousands and ongoing to this day. In Bahrain they are trying to create war. In Lebanon they overrule the democratic institutions with Hezbollah. Ever since 1979 with the birth of political shia Islam, Iran has worked tirelessly to promote sectarianism and war throughout the middle east. Iran's number 1 goal is to promote shia Islam. They will do this through killing and displacement of sunnis including kurds. Forget North Korea. Iran is by far the biggest threat to peace in the world and the most evil regime the middle east has EVER seen. We need more SANCTIONS and if this doesn't help then a full scale invasion to liberate the world from the cancer of Ayatollahs.

What did the disgusting regime think they achieved with this? His trail was a farce, so there was no justice. There is zero preventive value in these executions, after centuries in dealing with Kurds it should be quite obvious that you cannot intimidate or scare Kurds into submission, much worse has been tried and it has always failed. With Kurds it always has the opposite effect, now this man is a martyr and symbol of resistance, dozens of young Kurds will join the different resisters groups and kill other young Iranian soldiers stationed in Kurdistan. Also the world community got yet another reminder of the brutality of the Iranian regime and how they oppress minorities. So again, what did the morons think they gained? But if the aim was to strengthen Kurdish nationalism then well done!

@qader He was an armed member of terrorist komoleh party who once a while kill Iranian border guards. It's sad for his family, but Kurdish family should prevent their youth to be deceived by leftists terrorist groups such as kdpi and komoleh. Then no one will die.
