BAGHDAD, Iraq – Senior Iraqi military commanders hosted their Russian, Iranian, and Syrian counterparts in Baghdad on Saturday to discuss security cooperation and information-sharing in the Middle East, where the Islamic State group continues to carry out attacks.

The Iraqi defence ministry said it had received delegations led by their respective deputy chiefs of staff, to “strengthen cooperation and coordination in terms of security and intelligence between these countries”.

Russia is fighting rebels and jihadists in Syria alongside President Bashar al-Assad’s forces, while Iran is a key ally of both Baghdad and Damascus.

The four countries had created joint operations rooms to coordinate the fight against IS, now driven out of all urban centres in Iraq and largely confined to desert holdouts in Syria.

In a rare address last month, the jihadist group’s leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi urged his followers to continue their fight.

According to jihadist expert Hisham al-Hashemi, there are still 2,000 IS fighters – nearly all of them Iraqi – active in four regions of Iraq.

Their aim is “to take revenge on those that ousted them”, he said.

Despite major setbacks in Iraq and Syria, in July IS managed to carry out a string of coordinated attacks in southern Syria that killed more than 250 people.

"According to jihadist expert Hisham al-Hashemi, there are still 2,000 IS fighters – nearly all of them Iraqi". The latest intelligence reports indicate 20-30 thousand ISIS fighters left in Iraq and Syria, that's an army. Which begs the question, what is this meeting really about? why are these countries coordinating their military? is something about to happen?

Interesting, Iraq hosts not one but almost all of US foes. The same Iraq the Americans saved from collapse just a year ago, and wasted countless billions on since 2003.

Why? Why is Iraq hosting these countries? If Iraq wants demoracy they have to stay far away from this axis of evil. Otherwise the sectarianism from Iran will continue to destroy Iraq like it has since 2003 and like it has in Syria and Iraq will become a shia dictatorship like Iran. This is outrageous. For peace to succeed Iraq should never associate itself with shia sectarianism. All Iranian influence in Iraq most be severed. Iran's biggest export is sectarianism and this has literally destroyed every inch of Iraq. Even many shias are starting to realise this.

They are coordinating assault on the us military in the areas 🙈 with American mercenaries and American equipment. It would be not the first time the us government backstab its own military staff. Than American can start to wipe them out forever and creation concentration camps all over the world for them and their german friends.
