In Pictures: Iraqi soldiers and Shiite militia in their drive for Fallujah
Iraqi military forces launched their long-anticipated offensive against the Islamic State (ISIS) in Fallujah on Sunday starting with a sweeping attack against militants in the farmlands around the city.
Since then the local forces backed by coalition airstrikes have been able to control a large number of villages and districts areas around the city.
Iraqi defense ministry urged Fallujah's civilians prior to the offensive to flee if possible on Sunday, advising them to raise white flags to be distinguished from ISIS militants.
