ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Syrian security forces bombarded and shelled the city of Doma in the eastern Ghouta region near Damascus, killing at least four people and injuring 13 others. The death toll is expected to rise.
According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 247 civilians were killed in consecutive massacres carried out by the Syrian regime air force in several towns and cities in eastern Ghouta, and in the province of Rif Dimashq.
Among the victims there were reportedly 50 children, 25 women and several families.
