ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Kurdistan Region currently produces around 285,000 barrels of oil per day, according to data collected by Rudaw. Oil exports from the Region resumed on Saturday, after more than two years of suspension.
The Kurdistan Region, Iraqi federal government and international oil companies operating in the Region recently reached a final agreement to export Kurdish oil to Turkey’s Ceyhan Port. The move has been welcomed by US as well as Iraqi and Kurdish officials,
According to data collected by Rudaw from sources and statements by the producing companies, a total of 285,000 barrels of oil is produced in the Region.
Breakdown:
Tawke Licence field: 68,000 bpd
Atrush Block: 35,000 bpd
Sarsang Block: 30,000 bpd
Sheikhan oil field: 44,100 (as of August 28)
Ain Sifni oil field: 6,500 bpd
Erbil oil field: 9,000 bpd
Bajeel oil field: 4,000 bpd
Sarqala oil field: 8,500 bpd
Khurmala oil field: 80,000 bpd
Oil exports from the Kurdistan Region through the Iraq-Turkey pipeline had been suspended since March 2023, when a Paris-based arbitration court found that Ankara had violated a 1973 pipeline agreement with Baghdad by allowing Erbil to independently export oil since 2014.
The resumption of exports is possible after Erbil, Baghdad, and oil producers reached a deal this week.
