ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - At least 11 people were killed and 27 others injured on Sunday when a tour bus collided with a tow truck in Turkey’s western Manisa province, local authorities said.
The accident occurred on a highway as the bus was traveling from Bursa toward Izmir.
The Manisa Governor’s Office said it received a report of the accident at 11:11 am, prompting authorities to dispatch ambulances, firefighters and police teams to the scene.
“Medical and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene, and efforts to rescue citizens affected by the accident were promptly launched. Eleven of our citizens lost their lives and 27 were injured in the accident. The injured citizens have been transported to hospitals,” the governor’s office said in a statement, reported state media.
Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci confirmed the death toll but put the number of injured at 26, citing preliminary findings.
“We are closely monitoring the situation in coordination with all relevant institutions,” Ciftci said in a post on X.
The cause of the collision was not immediately clear.
