Thousands of various birds migrate to Zrebar Lake in Iranian Kurdistan after the beginning of autumn each year. They stay around the freshwater lake until spring time.
The lake is a suitable spot where birds can find food to survive throughout the winter.
Coots are a special type of waterfowl which migrate to the lake at this time every year. According to report from the Mariwan Environment Protection Department, tens of thousands of coots live on the shores on the lake, which often attract visitors who enjoy watching them.
Located outside the city of Mariwan in Kurdistan province, Zrebar is a fresh water lake and touristic summer resort.
