ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The king of Arabic crooners, Kadhim al-Sahir, says he is looking for another song to sing in Kurdish.
The Iraqi singer who used to be a teacher in the Kurdish town of Akre said his time in Kurdistan inspired him to sing in Kurdish in the past, and he wants to continue that in the future.
“I sang several songs in the past, like Hei Mereme and Emrim Mina, which I had listened to when I was in Akre. Now, if there is a good and strong poem I will sing in Kurdish (again),” he said.
The singer’s remarks came in a special ceremony where he released his new album “The Book of Love” in Lebanon
The Kurdish telecommunications company that offers services across Iraq has sponsored the singer’s new album.
Asiacell contracted the singer in early 2015 to represent its trademark, and has since produced several tracks in Kurdish and Arabic for its advertisements.
