Bernard-Henri Lévy, French philosopher and author, has spent a lot of time in the Kurdistan Region, filming his documentary Peshmerga that was released earlier this year.

He has returned to the Kurdistan Region as the Peshmerga have joined forces with the Iraqi army to liberate the city of Mosul from ISIS. He commended the Kurdish forces for sacrificing themselves on behalf of the wider Iraq, the Middle East and the world to defeat the extremist group.

He discusses with Rudaw how the battle for Mosul may change the map. “For the first time the world will pay its debt to the Kurds,” he said.
