The names of two Kurdish journalists killed in 2017 while reporting on the war against ISIS have been added to a monument to journalists killed in war in France, including Rudaw’s Shifa Gardi.

Shifa Gardi was killed south of Mosul on February 25. Bakhtyar Haddad, a Kurdish-French journalist and fixer, was killed on June 19 in Mosul.

Their names have been added to a Memorial for Journalists established by Reporters Without Borders on the grounds of the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy in Bayeux, France.

Globally, 50 journalists have been killed this year so far, including seven in Iraq.
