Children of Peshmerga martyrs hope to make their fathers proud

KIRKUK, Kurdistan Region – Children of those Peshmerga who have been killed or captured by Islamic State (ISIS) got first and second in their classes in the final exams.
 
Amina’s father is still in ISIS captivity. She says, “I have studied a lot to pass my exams and make my father happy.”
 
Other children also say that they study hard because they want to build Kurdistan and “blind the enemies.”
 
Kirkuk’s education authorities say that they are amazed by the marks.
 
Some 1,500 Kurdish Peshmerga have been killed in the fight against ISIS.
