Boxer Muhammad Ali had friends in a small Kurdish town

This is the house of an old friend of legendary American boxer Muhammad Ali.

Jamal Sheikh Muhammad Masoum Naqshbandi says he was best friends with the boxer.

We visit Naqshbandi’s house to learn about his friendship with Ali.

The son of a Naqshbandi Sheikh, he says Muhammad Ali met Sheikh Masoum in an Islamic conference at Chicago University in 1994.

Muhammad Ali has visited the Sheikh three times after their first visit.

He says that the boxer was very impressed by Tasawwuf and Sufism.

The Sheikh says that the boxer sent his autographed boxing gloves to Kurdish Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani in 2014.

Muhammad Ali was born on January 1st 1942.
